Village culture & Caucasus scenery

A carefully planned mountain day beyond Baku

Leave Baku and travel through changing countryside to Khinalig, one of Azerbaijan’s highest and most ancient continuously inhabited mountain villages. At about 2,350–2,360 metres, the village offers a distinct way of life and wide views across the Greater Caucasus.

The journey also visits Guba and Red Town—Qırmızı Qəsəbə, also known as Krasnaya Sloboda—one of the last strongholds of Mountain Jewish life in the Caucasus. The experience introduces the area’s Shiite, Sunni and Jewish communities before the road climbs toward Khinalig.
